Mega Man Amiibo

Mega Man is my second Amiibo figure in my collection.  Like most Amiibo, I wasn’t planning on getting him but once I saw the final version he looked too cool to pass up on.  I’ve never really been a big fan of Mega Man games (I suck at them), but this figure just came out perfect.  Mega Man also reminds me of Astro Boy (a cartoon I grew up watching) so I had to buy this figure.
Mega Man is painted in his traditional blue colourway, with light blue and a metallic blue that shines nicely.  Although his face doesn’t have a lot of detail, it’s still clean and an important focal point of the figure.  Finding him at first was a little difficult, but eventually retail stores did receive more figures of him.  I really love this toy, and I believe his popularity will grow over time because he’s a rare Capcom figure.

Amiibo Toon Link

Well, I finally have my first Amiibo and what better way to start off a collection than with Toon Link.  My intentions were to initially buy Amiibo Link from series 1, but once I saw the final release I passed on him.  I just didn’t like the ugly yellow stand and the way Link was facing, so it was a hard decision on passing him.  Thankfully, Nintendo did release a proper Link figure in the form of Toon Link.
Toon Link was released around February 2015, and was part of wave 3 that was compatible with Super Smash Bros. Wii U.  He retailed for $13.99 Can ($12.99 US), and attainting him was fairly easy within the first week of release.
I never planned on getting into Amiibo, but once I saw Toon Link I knew I had to get him.  The design of the card back and the figure is neat and colourful (containing that Nintendo magic).  For now, I plan to keep my collection mint on card because I prefer to display them that way.  And with a great “must-have” figure like this, I can’t wait to see what other classic character is released in the future (NES Link –fingers crossed).

Oakley Sunglasses

I needed a new pair of sunglasses so I decided to buy a pair of Oakley’s.  This is my first time buying Oakley’s because honestly I’ve never cared much for expensive glasses.  My last pair I bought for less than $15 and they lasted me over 5 years.  While I do care for name brands, I just felt like I didn’t want to have to take special care for them when I wore them.  But since Oakley is a popular brand, I’m sure they will be able to take the punishment and resist my use.
The model I bought is called Garage Rock and the item number is 009175-13.  The frame design is similar to wayfarers, which makes them stylish and classic.  I like them because they’re large and can fit my fat face.  I also like the fact that the lenses give out a shiny colourful (purple-bluish) refection when the sun hits them, yet provide clear vision for my eyes.  I can’t wait till summer to not only show off my glasses, but also enjoy the outdoors.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Piggy Bank

A while back I was watching a pickup video when I noticed a guy had bought a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) piggy bank.  I wanted that bad boy instantly and so I went on a search for it.  Unfortunately it wasn’t sold in Canada, and importing it from the US would be too expensive so I decided to pass.  Thankfully my patience paid off because this week Walmart finally stocked the TMNT piggy bank.  From my knowledge the Raphael version is the only version released in this model.  Michelangelo is my favourite Turtle, but I’m okay with owning Raphael.  Ralphy is directly inspired by the original TMNT animated series, is pictured with his weapon of choice the sai, and is wearing his signature red bandana.
The piggy bank cost $10 in Canada, which is a steal because that’s also the US price (considering our dollar value is plummeting).  This piggy bank was produced by FABNY, and was made in China in 2014.  The paint job is pretty nice with a lot of detail and very little imperfections.  While it’s meant to keep change, I plan to keep it as a collectable.  FAB NY has also produced other figures such as Batman and Hello Kitty, so I hope they keep up the great work and we get to see other popular figures such as the Simpsons and Nintendo characters in the future.
