Once you become a
G-Shock collector you tend to want variety in your collection. My collection isn’t very large, but I do like
to buy watches in colours I don’t already own.
This is why I bought my DW-6900NB-4DR, or as I like to call it, my
purple watch. This 6900 model has a 3230
module, and is part of the 2011 mirror-metallic G-Shock series.
I’m not much of a
purple fan, but there’s something about this particular colour that I
like. It has this metallic paint look to
it that sparkles when the light hits it.
The band also features subtle screen printing that gives it a nice
accent. Besides recognizing the quality
of G-Shocks, I was also amazed to find out that I wasn’t able to remove or rub off
the print on the band after heavy use, or with nail toner.
Other features worth
mentioning about this model is that the face is a mix of metallic mirror and a
green negative display. While negative
displays are popular among collectors, I’m not much of a fan of it because it
makes it hard to read the time from certain angles (especially when the back is
reflective). The eyes, or the seconds
counter also feature this mirrored look, but with an orange display. Overall the watch is more of a fashion
statement, than something I would rely on everyday but I still love it.
