R.A. Dickey Blue Jays Bobblehead

The first bobblehead of the 2014 season from the Blue Jays is this R.A. Dickey figure.  20,000 of these bobbleheads were given away at Rogers Centre on Sunday, April 27th, 2014.  Dickey has been a Blue Jay for only 2 years and has already captured the hearts of many fans with his knuckleball and his uplifting personality.  Just listening to him speak and reading his book will inspire you in baseball and in life.
The bobblehead comes packaged with a see-through window on the front, which is great for display purposes.  On the side of the box there’s a great quote about Dickey’s philosophy on the knuckleball and how you must embrace it to be successful with it.  And since Dickey is famous for his knuckleball his figure is displayed throwing a knuckleball pitch.  The figure was made by BDA Inc, a merchandise company which has done past Blue Jays bobbleheads.  The figure was also made in China.
Overall they did an excellent job on the figure, especially in capturing the likeness of Dickey’s face and pitching stance.  The only drawback of the bobblehead is the paint around the hands because of the amount of detail required, however this isn’t much of a problem for me.  As long as the figure captures the essence of the player is all that’s important in my opinion.  Other than that I’m excited for the next 2 bobbleheads scheduled to come from the Blue Jays this year.

Combos Snacks

I grew up watching Saturday morning cartoons, and besides the cartoons what I liked the most was the commercials.  At the time late 80’s early 90’s, we (in Canada) got to see a lot of American commercials and I was introduced to all the latest toys and snack foods.  One of the best snack foods that I wanted was Combos.  Unfortunately they weren’t that common to find in Toronto, so it wasn’t until years later that I finally tried them in a store that had some.  What are Combos?  Well they’re pretzel tubes filled with various flavours such as nacho cheese, pizza, seven layer dip and many more.  These snacks are perfect for gaming or watching TV.  Sidenote: a character on the TV series, Breaking Bad was also named Combo after the snacks.

Toronto Blue Jays Tim Hortons Donut

I went to buy my usual double double (2 cream, 2 sugar) coffee today at Tim Hortons, when I noticed they had this beauty; a Toronto Blue Jays donut.  This donut is similar to their Boston cream donut (vanilla custard filled), except the Blue Jays donut has vanilla frosting and sprinkles (black and white).  My favourite part of this donut is the beautiful Toronto Blue Jays logo at the top.  The donut is delicious and it's nice to know that Timmies is a Jays fan.
