The first time I saw
Despicable Me was a few months after the movie had come out on DVD. When it was in theaters I wanted to watch it
but I just didn’t think it would be as good as it was. Boy was I mistaken because it turned out to
be one of my favorite computer animated movies.
The movie was funny, it was original, and it had a lot of heart. Unfortunately the one thing it didn’t have
was a toy line. Eventually I did see some
plush toys of the minions but they weren’t that great in quality.
Then one day I heard
some wonderful news that a sequel would be coming out, and that a toy line was
also in the works. Out of all the toys
that have now been officially released my favorite is the talking action
figures. The version I bought was of
minion Dave, which I like because he has two eyes. Right from the start you can see the toy
manufacture (Thinkway Toys), was thinking about the collectors because they
delivered them in packaging that was beautiful and interactive; which means you
can either keep them in the box or open them up.
Once you open the
package and release Dave, the toy is very impressive to look at and play
with. The top portion is made out of a
silicon material, and the bottom portion is hard plastic. The overall paint job is okay on the hard
plastic, however the paint on the top does tend to peel (at least in my
figure). The real fun with this figure
is actually playing with it. His eyes
move side-to-side, and he’s programmed with 55 hilarious sayings and phrases. I swear the first day I bought him I played
with him for hours. This has been a
wonderful release line from Thinkway Toys and I hope to see more of their
innovations in the future.
