New Era Blue Jays Mini Cap

A few weeks ago I was on twitter when I noticed that New Era had sent out a tweet asking people to follow New Era Canada on twitter.  The best part was that they would also enter people who joined into a contest to win a fitted mini cap.  I joined to follow New Era Canada regardless of the contest because I am a fan, but I also wished I could win that mini cap.  I had wanted one of these mini caps for years but I was never able to find a Blue Jays version.  Thankfully, I was one of the lucky contest winners.
What makes these mini fitted caps so special is that they’re exactly like the regular on-field versions that New Era makes, only smaller (size 4 ¼).  Even the logo embroidery has the same quality, which is impressive.  New Era even added their famous 59fifty sticker on the brim, which I find extremely cute.  Thank you once again New Era Canada; @NewEraCanada.

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS Demo Version

I’ve been sick for the last few days which can seem terrible, but fortunately I’ve been blessed by Nintendo offering a demo version of Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 3DS.  I don’t really play fighting games (not since the early 90’s), but the hype Nintendo has been building around this game has been contagious.  Offering this game was genius because it gives people that normally don’t play fighting games a chance to see what all the hype is about.  So far I’ve had fun playing it.  It’s easy to get into, although I would have liked the demo to also offer a guide to basic moves.  However once you get a hold of some moves, you then get an insatiable appetite to get better and better.  Overall I’ve been having lots of fun playing this game, and I can’t wait to play the full version when it comes out.

Removing a Baseball Hat Sticker

Here’s a topic that isn’t really relevant anymore, whether to remove a sticker from a baseball hat or leave it on?  The practice of leaving the sticker on became popular in the early 2000’s when multiple fake fitted hats started showing up, and the sticker could be used as a check of authenticity.  Eventually the demand for fake hats died down, and the style of leaving the sticker on petered out.  Today most people that collect hats prefer to remove the sticker when they wear their hats.
I also fell victim to the ‘leaving the sticker on’ trend.  Unfortunately this resulted in an unpleasant looking faded spot when the sticker was removed or fell off.  Since that time I always remove the sticker.  If the sticker is nice, I like to place it in a sticker album.  Once you get used to removing the sticker you will find that the hat looks cleaner and you won’t have to worry about faded spots in the future.

The Lego Movie Minifigure Emmet

Here is my Lego minifigure of Emmet from the Lego Movie.  I’m pretty bad at buying collectables as soon as they release, so I waited way too long to buy this minifigure.  I just assumed that these figures would be around a while, so I took my time in getting him.  Unfortunately by the time I intended to buy him, the Lego Movie blind bag series had sold out (only one run was made).  That forced me to bite the bullet and buy Emmet from Ebay.  Although I did pay a little extra for him, I’m glad I did it because he’s a wonderful figure.
Lego released various variants of Emmet, and this blind bag version has his hard hat attached to his hair.  He comes in an orange jumpsuit with silver highlights and a blue long sleeve shirt.  The only accessory included is an Octan instruction manual that reads, “How to: Fit in!  Have everyone like you!  And always be happy!”  The only negative thing I have to say about this minifigure is that more accessories should have been included from the movie.  Nonetheless this is still a great figure that I’m happy to own and yell out everything is awesome.

Nintendo Amiibo

I just did my first Amiibo pre-order which is of Link.  I’m very excited for what Nintendo plans to do with these toys/collectables in the future.
